Colors

Working on color ... Here are two pieces of old Iope art with color on them.
The drawing looks wonky to me now... My style on this has changed, I like the lines rougher and with texture in the colors.
This isn't what the finished comic will look like. But it is a way to get familiar with picking colors that work together.
Even the meaning of the story has changed. In the beginning I thought iope just spoke out colors like Gerald McBoingBoing makes sounds. But once I gave him some time and pencil mileage, iope showed me that there's much more going on in his world than I first realized.
It's like getting to know someone. The more time you spend with them, the more you understand what they are really about.
Any ways.... Just a test.

My web page is colored glaringly bright and I don't like it anymore. Thanksgiving/Christmas break project - New web site!

i o p e p i l e

Time to get that fancy clean art off the top of the page and get into some sketchy guts!
The iope script is done!
My deadline is to have thumbnails/roughs by the end of the year and start pencils in Jan.

Ooooo, Husked inhabitants of the iope world. Don't know what to call the species... something between a fuzzy frog and a tree branch.

Developing the old artist character that opens up the story. She's been scarfed many times, but outlasted the power in them.

Thumbnails from today. I natrually think of it like I'm used to thinking of animation - choosing shots and key poses. Also, there are war machines!

Mo Thumbnailin. I'm enjoying this a lot.

Have a good thanksgiving, internets!

O sailor...

A photoshop sketch that I got inspired on, and decided to learn myself some color and textures with.
Motion and stillness. Restraint and elaboration.
What happens to Sailor at the end of Kite?
Maybe there is enough wind to take him to where the spinner dolphins jump.
And then?
Well, I think he has to fight. He has to fight some subs.

Made for the birthday of one I love.
