Cyberpunk Icons: The Courier
I'm a huge fan of Cyberpunk. Steampunks can get off my Nanolawn, a wetware jack to the grid and everything made out of mirror shades is what makes my heart sing.
In the last few books I've read, the character of the Courier is a common icon. Usually young, female, smart and fast. She has a unique mode of transportation and gets things places.
My courier here loves in-line blades and is a little addicted to goggledrugs.
Who next?
(Speed-paint in photoshop. Currently reading REAMDE.)

Shake like an Eathquake!!!
Here's the second in my Cavebabes series,
TriceraTROMP!

Finding a way to make the gal and the dino positioned together, without dominating or running over each other was the toughest part.
Also... the color was very tough. I wanted it to feel trompy. I think it does now.
Everything is tough! I am an eternal student of Color and Shape! If I was a cavebabe, I think these are the gods I would tromp things for.

Enth used

Thumbnail

I read a quote about enthusiasm that I can't track down now.
About how, as artists, it's out most precious resource, but we spend so much time destroying it. Bashing our industry, our work, our small successes. Tearing up and out the good things and hoarding the negative.
And then one day when we can't bring ourself to draw or make, we wonder where our passion for the art went.

And the Moth stole the Flame.

This is the piece I live-painted at the Do LaB's Lucent L'amour festival. I painted for 3.5 hours, and then got to dancedancedance. It sold at that very night at auction and the profits went to the Sonic Muze charity.

The combination of artmaking, music, and dancing made it a perfect night for me. I hope to be out paining under the stars again soon.

Touch Down.

I thought I should get a post up right quick about comic con 09. If I met or talked to you there, please drop me an e-mail! It's kelly@inkplay.net. I want to stay connected. :)
I'm floored by the privilege of being able to get my art out to people I've never even met. If you got a sticker, a shirt, or shared your own art with me, Thank You!
Seeing the con from the other side of the table for my first time was a huge learning experience. I'm processing everything very slowly. I don't know what will come of it yet.
As a thanks to con-goers and all lovers of awesome, I've released the 2nd image in the Glowpocalypse set. She is the striker, the heat, the precise force. I'm keeping the final image under wraps. It's just for people who own one of the 25 sets. Hee!
Oh wait, that can be you. Get your piece of the puzzle here.

Favorite moments of the weekend? Getting to be in the presence of Miyazaki as he revealed a jaw-dropping PONYO clip, and the immersive walk-through of the old school TRON arcade and Light Cycle.

Make My Way
Here's a new one for Summer 09! Inspired by the graffiti murals I saw in shops in the Haight-Ashbury area of SanFran this memorial day. I've always been attracted to the ideas behind artcrime. Secret, bold creation under pressure with criminal consequences. Never put paint to a wall myself... but I might not refuse if the opportunity arose.
It also connects to my belief in making my way to where I want to go by my own route and means, like this artist making the moon by climbing on a ladder she painted herself.
Color is still what I enjoyed doing the most.
This piece and 3 other of my favorites will be up for silent auction at the SDCC Art Show. It's up on the Sails pavilion. They will be all framed and snazzy and for the taking.

Wild cards

Luvbot Futurecop runs Nu-LA her way.
And one day that Saucy Brigand took all the money.
I did the Jacks for a bit of Girls Drawing Girl's swag that will be for sale at Con o9. Here's Jill of Hearts and Jill of Spades as a teaser... You'll just have to crack open a pack to see Clubs and Diamonds!
Flash and P'shop.
