It's a dj Poptart Mix - Live at The Skinny

Here's a live recording from my set on 12-2-11 at the premier of Project Alma's fabulous new house night: The Skinny

Poptart Live at The Skinny 1:15, 320k, 168mb.

I aimed to take the crowd on a specific journey, up through swirling and mystical house, swerving into dark and sassy electro, then exploding to the surface in a fizz of fidget and neon. They danced hard, so I call it a win. Enjoy, burn, and share the love!

It's a DJ poptart mix - Solid Sass Vol 2

Beat in the new year with this fresh poptart mix!
DJ poptart - Solid Sass vol .2

It hits like a shotgun full of glitter, dumping you into a deep pit of glowing tingly gel. Synth by synth you climb from the depths to witness the first sunrise of 2011, beaming with funk and feeling.

.... I like it!.
(My favorite tracks hitting right off, and then :28 in.)

Let me know what you like, and want to hear more of. And glorious 20'elevenses!

It's a DJ Poptart mix: HugStep Vol. 1

If you've never heard of Dubstep before, this is a good place to be. It's slow, it's epic, it's pretty, it's dirty. I have a love-hate relationship with the genre, so I decided to make a mix that was just all the parts I loved. :D

This is my own sweet and low take on the super-trendy genre. All vocal, and shimmering, but with that earthshaking subbass propelling you onward... I call it HUGSTEP!!!!
GET IT!

Beats Antique is playing!
Guess I have to bring my hoop....

My top 10 albums of 09!

In no order...

Calvin Harris - Ready for the Weekend
Taking his impossibly catchy groves to an even more slickly produced level. Calvin is a remixer's dream.

Imogen Heap - Ellipse
This album is stunning and strangely deep. It's funny, it's beautiful, it's a work of art.

School of 7 Bells - Alpinism's
A hypnotizing set of songs. They sound like secrets on the wind. At least one third of the tracks are about Lucid dreaming, a fun touch.

Simian Mobile Disco - Temporary pleasure
They know how to do it. Unique grooves mixed with a little darkness and experimentation.

Beats Antique - Contraption Vol 1
Impossible not to wiggle to. The wobbly dubby touches make my day.

Ellie Golding & Little Boots - Various Singles
I like all the Little Boots remixes better than the originals, except Stuck on repeat, Remedy, and Earthquake. Ellie kept releasing sweetly brilliant tracks and I can't wait for a full album.

Basement Jaxx - Scars
This album is so yes. They do insanity RIGHT, coating it in melodic hooks. I turn it up so the buzzes and clicks sink into my bones.

Florence and the Machine - Lungs
Powerful, from the Lungs ballads. Lots of truth and fight in this one.

La Roux - Self Titled
Synthy, electo power. A unique voice kicking ass. Almost all of these superpoppy songs have been remixed into to dark, dubby and D&B versions, her clear voice complements these kind of reworks perfectly.

Royksopp - Junior
More fun than any of their previous albums. Golden!

Music is very important.

It's a Dj poptart mix - Gyromantic!

Gyromantic- A lover of circular swoops, twists and turns in life, blissful confusion, and the low and dizzy magic made in these times.

This mix does not let up. It has some strange sounds. They are all good for you! Eat your squealing buzzing bass vitamins, and let me know how it goes down. :D

Just in case you missed it: Here's my summer mix
DJ poptart - HerSay

1:08, 156mb, 320k
Beat down by the summer heat, Poptart releases an upbeat summer mix of alternating electro sillyness and seriousness. Songs and ideas that i just needed to get off my chest:
I need to dance. I'll take you there. I've got ideas. Do you notice? Hit it. Shut up. I rock. Risking it all. I'm in too deep. You find me out. Nonsense is the key.

3) Addict (Heavyfeet REmic) - Mightyfools

Cleographica - GDG - Selecta

My go at the Girls Drawin Girls weekly theme - Cleopatra.

I tried to turn it around fast and graphic! Flash with a tiny touch of Photoshop. I can't resist.

And I like seeing thumbnails so maybe you do to:

Also, a sneaky peek at the Selecta t-shirt, that will be available as a very limited run this summer. Lady dj's get first dibs!

Selecta is the patron saint of Dj's. She brings the perfect record to the front of your crate. She always gives two choices.
Springy Cheers!

It's a Dj poptart mix - SolidSass!

Lord give me grace and dancing feet

And the power to impress

Lord give me grace and dancing feet

Let me outshine the moon

Tonight make me unstoppable

And I will charm, I will slice

I will dazzle them with my wit

Tonight make me unstoppable

And I will charm, I will slice

I will dazzle, I will outshine them all

Standing on the packed dance floor

Our bodies thrown in time

Silent on the weekdays

Tonight I claim what's mine

DJ poptart - SolidSass

1hour of kickity, sassity girl power electrohouse. 85mb.

For you and me and the things we need to win. Enjoy!

It's a DJ poptart mix - Noctilucent

Obscure Words: noctilucent
[fr. L. nox, night + lucere, to shine]
1) luminescent at night or in the dark
2) designating a cloud that appears luminescent at night; shining or glowing by night

Dj poptart - Noctilucent
83mb, 1 hour live continuous Electro/Pop/Girly/Feisty/Neon-in-the-basement mix.

You've already been dancing for 3 hours. The venue is small, hot. You're sweaty, tired, standing out in the parking lot wondering of you should drive home. You hear a faintly familiar track come on the dancefloor. A fidgety second wind hits you and you know you can't go home yet. The night rewards you and your friends.

Here is the tracklist!
1) Road To Recovery (D.I.M. Remix) - Midnight Juggernauts
I love the intro- but the rest of the track isn't as melodic. Still, I wanted to set the theme.

2) Any Way You Choose To Give It (Boy 8 Bit MiX) -The Black Ghosts
The best use of 8-bit sounds in a remix I've heard so far. So clean and pixeleated! So melodic!

3) Cross The Dancefloor (Laidback Luke Remix) -Treasure Fingers
Must have one song about dancing. Robot boys singing to robot girls is always good.

4) Time To Pretend (DMoeFunk Club Mix)- MGMT
This track starts to take the mix into its story.

5) Star Guitar (alavi reroX)- The Chemical Brothers
I love this loungy remix of the Chemical brother's classic. Even more spacey. You should feel what I feel.

6) The Longest Road (Sonik & Simpson remix) -Morgan Page feat. Lissie
I've been waiting for the perfect remix of this to pop up forever. It's not dj friendly for mixing, but the beauty of the song makes it worth it.

7) Stuck on Repeat vs. It's a Fine Day (Richard X Blend)- Little Boots vs. Opus 3
A classic, electro-fied. I used to listen to this song when I woke up on sunday mornings. Softens out the sass of Longest Road.

8) Sleep Deprivation (12" Version)- Simian Mobile Disco
Starts with back of your mind bleeps, and then ramps up into unstoppable an Harpsichord whirlwhind. So epic! What could possibly contain the power of this track?

9) Ce Jeu (Cool Kids Can't Die remix)- Yelle
The first strange discovery of this mix, poppy french girls taking out the harpsichord army with class and ease.

10) Lauren From Glebe (Damage Edit)- Muscles
We heard the music from over the fence, so we threw up our hands with a smile on our faces. Went to the front with our names on the list. Those who were strangers had turned into friends
This is what a good night out is about. I had to hold back from using more than one unashamedly joyful Muscles track in this set.

11) Just Can't Get Enough (Dirty South Remix)-Depeche Mode
12) Overdose - DJ tomcraft
I've held on to the discovery of these two songs mashing up perfectly for a long time. Now it's finally recorded. Overdose takes the sappy happy if I Just can't get enough and turns it dark.

13) Shut Up And Let Me Go (Left/Right Remix) -The Ting Tings
The girl from the ting tings sasses back in a powerful remix. Don't tell me what I want.

14) Take on me (Where?) A-ha
I've lost the info for where I got this track. But it calls back to I just can't get enough with a eerie, transcendent version of the song.

15) Freak Me (VLRNA Remix)- Silk
Such a unique sounding remix. I love it's unexpectedness.

16) YOA (The Twelves Remix)- Theatre of Disco
Been in love with this track for months, though it is hard to mix.

Burn, share, enjoy, and let me know if it works for you.

Revox - dj Poptart's touchwaves mix

It is geeky! It is science and art and electronica!
